Chicken Rice Ball @ Hoe Kee 2009
Chicken Rice Balls is one of the uniqueness in Melaka. It’s nothing much different from Hainanese Chicken Rice. We beat our appetite in our recent trip of Jom Makan-Makan at Melaka @ 28 Mar 2009.
Hoe Kee Chicken Rice Ball @ Jonker Street
You can see this Jonker Street board (attached on new renovated building) when you coming from Jalan Laksamana (Christ Church) towards Lorong Hang Jebat. This building known as Sam Shu Gong which sell varieties traditional biscuits and candies. It’s very similar to Tan Kim Hock food distributor that we know 20 years ago.
Beside this building is where Hoe Kee Chicken Rice is located.
As early as 11.00, I can see people start queuing. I thought at 3pm, getting a seat would be easier but then the queue is still there. People just get crazy over one place too much. In fact, there are few, but we choose this place as we feel it’s cleaner and not stuffy.
It’s all that we all get crazy about. It’s nothing except the rice is made into ping pong size and unique to Melaka food tourism.
The sticky ball is definitely better compare to my last visits. It do not break easily. Also I don’t think I’m getting enough with even 15 balls. Therefore, I prefer the normal rice.
A good try if you think what you want for your lunch. Come on, chicken rice ball at Melaka.
