Gunung Datuk – A Legendary Mountain
0Many hikers might attempt Gunung Datuk (Mount Datuk) mountain in preparation for Gunung Kinabalu real challenge. But not many know that this is mountain is a legendary mountain by the history.
Gunung Datuk (Mount Datuk)
Back to time where Negeri Sembilan was ruled by Minangkabau, this mountain is used by local people to gather and choose their leader.
You may ask why there is a FOOTPRINT at the summit on the boulder. Myth stated that it was belong to legendary warrior Hang Tuah which used to move one place to another place by jumping mountain to mountain. (Source from WikiTravel).
My FOURTH time to hike this legendary mountain and the best timing I achieved among all. I took 1.5 hour to touch the base peak. Started at 8.30am, reached at 1st check-point (rest area) at 9.10am and subsequent base peak at 10.00am.
Pine Tree Trail & Twin Peak – Fraser Hill
2Pine Tree Trail is located at Fraser Hill, a highland resort on the mountain of Pahang. Known as Bukit Fraser by local, this place can be reached by road transport about 2 hours via trunk road from Kuala Lumpur.
PINE TREE Trail @ Fraser Hill
At height of 1,500 meter, Pine Tree Hill can be access near end of High Pines Road. This trail is only 5.5km long but it needs about 4 hours or less to hike. A return trip would require 6-8 hours. This is one of the toughest trails that well-known among hikers. There are 7 other shorter trails scattered around, namely Mager Trail, Abu Suradi Trail, Hemmant Trail, Bishop Trail, Maxwell Trail, Rompin Trail and Kimbersley Trail.
A good things with all trails is there are many sign boards were built to show the distance you have done. Our time expectation was better managed with this sign.
This trip was initiated when we spotted a very good deal in Groupon which enabled us to stay at Fraser Hill at very cheap price. On sharing basis, we only need to pay RM29 per night for each person (2 bedroom apartment), at Fraser’s Silverpark Resort. We’ve combined group for this trip. I opted to stay 3D2N because I decided to explore all trails during my stay. Understand from others saying Pine Tree Trail itself would take full day. Therefore, I need another day to explore the rest.
Maldives in Thailand @ Koh Lipe (Day 1)
13I love beach especially in Thailand. The imagination went wild with turquoise ocean, blue sky & tropical weather attracted many beach goers & holiday maker to choose Thailand. Koh Lipe is a small island in the south Andaman Sea, famous as ‘Maldives’ of Thailand.
14-18 March 2013 | Koh Lipe @ Thailand
Koh Lipe is accessible via flight in Hat Yai International Airport or cheaper alternative such as train to Hat Yai from KL.
I see Koh Lipe as one of the many island destination in Thailand, place no expectation from it, but speechless when I witnessed with my own eyes. That’s the paradise I ever been before.
The whole budget of this trip was set at max RM1k, but actual spending was actually RM 600 – RM 700 per person. Due to higher exchange rate, this cost was actually higher.
Holiday-maker should have a look at this island because it’s too beautiful to describe, let pictures alone to proof it. Overall, a perfect destination that I never dream able to see in Thailand.
