Broga Hill @ Semenyih
27 June 2009

Located near to Nottingham University Semenyih, Broga Hill is about 30 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur city center. Broga Hill also known as Bukit Lalang, is a great place for hiking and scenic spot for photography.
Having a last successful of hiking trip, I decided to organize another hiking with the same group. However, it turned out to be unexpected large group that day. My group consists of 18 peoples. Fifteen of them are first-timer.

Being the key person here was a bit of restless. I’d to make sure I did not bring them to wrong route in the wee hours of the morning.
I woke up very early @ 4.30am. After fetching friends from their house, I straight away headed to Bandar Mahkota Cheras for gathering. At 6.15am, all of us in 5 cars were heading to Semenyih Town before turn to Broga (with signboard).
The moment we reached, we found out that we were not the early bird group, in fact, a lot more peoples already at top of hill for sunrise view.
We parked our car inside the palm plantation. As we wanted to save our time, we immediately moved out without much saying or greeting due to majority of my group are stranger to each other.

The starting point is much straight forward without hesitation. We talked and laugh like nobody business.
At the point where we met this steep path, we started to focus our energy and soul.

Our legs get sour but the view was truly captivating up there. None of us was complaining. Once we reached the first rest ‘station’, we sighed our relief.
The trail formed a snake-like pattern when we look back.

Chee May, one of the potential future hiker is being developed. In fact, she has the long vision of conquering few hills in month ahead. According to her, Broga Hill is just the beginning.

Her obligation to continue the first peak, second peak and highest peak is unbeatable. She has become our first in our group to reach at highest peak and posed for achievement.

Not only she got that kind of dedication and obligation, we have too!
Lily, a challenging person with hiking is one of the interesting activities. In fact, she was participated Trailblazer last year. She follows me everywhere I go for nature hiking.

Relax and feel the freedom of the warm….lol.
Peoples start posing for camera. Cameramen get spotted here. It is truly amazing atmosphere for photography making.

The heat is not that unbearable in between 7-9am, only after that, it started to burn your skin as a whole. No tree shelter or anywhere can hide. You’re exposing yourself fully to sun light.
I don’t see any sunburn threat in the early morning. That’s why people can wear (spaghetti)Â like this here.

Having successfully climbed to first peak is already a sense of achievement. For Simon and Michelle, it was rather tired but satisfy.

Illegal gathering spotted. The lead was giving speech to its member on the great plan. Hehe.
Who knows, attack of clans at Guang Ming peak is started from here. Haha.

To avoid any bad circumstances, we marched to second peak. The great scenery was starting from here.

The more we climbed higher, the more we spotted the scenery. Humans are becoming so tiny and a dot.

The third peak was even better with X trail road path created. One way up and another way down. We slide all the down from peak.

Superman poses from Chai. A pose for achievement at third peak.

We stopped here as the sun really getting up to our forehead.

As the sun was getting hotter, we climbed down and Chee May was showing thumb up for this trip.

Next time when I bought my DSLR, I’m sure coming back again not as hiker, but photographer.
Broga Hill – Second Installment, here I come.
Broga Hill – The Beginning
0Broga Hill name has been associated with peoples around me until I can’t bear to ignore it. In fact, it’s an absolute a beauty hill with wonderful view for hikers. Photos taken by amateur photographer and trip review online can proves it.
Broga Hill @ Semenyih

After the success of my previous hiking trip, I’m planning another trip to Broga Hill by next week. As I will be leading a large group of friends to Broga, I need to get myself being prepare for it.
Here are the facts of preparation and advises on Broga Hill trip:
- Camera - absolutely more important than your phone, to capture the beauty of nature OR madness of yourself
- Towel - sweat like crazy during the hike before reach 1st peak
- Extra shirt - to get change at your car when you’re about to go back
- Water/Isotonic – to replace your body dehydration OR provide energy to your body with isotonic drink. Can be bought at nearby plantation area.
- Torchlight – required if you planned to hike and reach before 7am.
- Shoes - slippery surface during hiking up and down. Need a pair of shoes that having a good grip.
Here is the route advise to Broga Hill (from Cheras – Kajang highway):
- Take a route to Kajang highway start from opposite Phoenix Plaza.
- Go along the highway and pass 2 tolls (RM1.90 in total)
- Head to Semenyih until you notice Tesco Kajang on your right.
- Go straight until you notice Semenyih direction (in blue sign). Turn left.
- Congrat…you’re heading to Semenyih town.
- Take 10km drive until you see Petronas on your right and university nottingham sign on your left.
- Turn left before the traffic light.
- Go straight until you notice Rabbit Farm on your right.
- Broga Hill is just opposite the farm.
It’s advisable to reach earlier, probably before 6.30am to observe sunrise on the hill top. If you’re not coming for sunrise, you can start anytime you want as long as you can stand the heat after 8am.
Here are the photos for my first visit. Park your car in between the space allocated.

Walk towards to the plantation, following the road trail prepared. The surface is rocky and slippery. Some of them are even 60 degree steep.

Making impossible to go down in standing position. You’re require to duck-squatting down all the way. Funny but safe.

When you reach the first peak, you can feel so high. In fact, you got few more peaks to climb.

Stay tune for Broga next week.
Tabur Hill – Fifth Hiking
1After so many hike attempts on the Tabur Hill @ Taman Melawati, I have finally become an organizer to lead 8 peoples up to the hill in 4 hours. I managed to complete activity without any unforeseen circumstances except some of them didn’t have their breakfast earlier. And they have drowned out their energy to negative form.
Tabur Hill 2009 – Fifth Hiking

We met up at 7.00am along the MRR2 before turn into Taman Melawati. We manage to reach there at 7.40am. There were many peoples went up before us. Therefore, we’re considering as late comer.
Tabur Hill – Fourth Hiking
0Tabur Hill is only the hill that I hike every year since year 2006. It was my fourth hike this year. My previous hike experience can be found here (2006), here (2007) and here (2008). In fact, it doesn’t change much except for more caution remarks in dangerous path.
Tabur Hill (Bukit Tabur) – Fourth Hiking
21 March 2009

In fact, all the while, I’m hiking the West Hill but never been to East Hill. The West Hill is known as Crystal Hill. This route is better and easier comparing to West, according to my reading on other blog. (more…)
Eco-Challenge IX @ Nur Lembah Pangsun
Eco-Challenge is kind of activity that need physical strength and competent mindset. This version of eco-challenge, according to the organizer is more easier due to foreseeing a lot of newcomers joining in. I’m one of them. It’s a real challenge to my ability, thanks to Genting Trailblazer 2008 that I participated two weeks ago, enable me to stand the real challenge.
Eco-Challenge IX
15 November 2008

The entire activity need you to complete 12km route with non-stop challenges that you never imagine. It drained your energy to the last bar. You must finish the race no matter how you want to give up. Terrible is it? Haha.
This is my toughest challenge with 6 hours non-stop and worst come to worst, it’s raining in last one hour.WOW…a new experience for me.
