Hill Hiking

Hill-Hiking @ Bukit Rasa

For most of the casual hikers, this hill is seems to be less known to them. An exception for those who like to recce to any kind of jungle. The actual trail leads to the summit was kinda short but not as easy as expected.

The terrain are consists of loose soils, a bit of rock climb and jungle trekking. The starting point is all about rock ascends. A beirut is marked as the summit of the hill. Supposedly, the hill offers a 270 degrees panoramic view, but those overgrown trees have blocked the surrounding from being seen.

If the skies are clear, we will able see Genting Highlands from the beirut. To make it interesting, few of us actually climbed up to the beirut for better view.

An expedition to Bukit Kutu

Bukit Kutu is stand 1100m/3600ft height and located at Kuala Kubu Bahru, Selangor. Someone say it’s a mountain, but it’s more known as hill. It took roughly 3-4 hours to the peak. Before that, we have to cross a much trodden trek. Believe me. Only 4WD is suitable to use such road.

One shall not underestimates the toughness of Gunung Kutu | Bukit Kutu. It wasn’t an easy hike for me so far, run off my combatant spirit and left my joint pain all the way down. Overall, it was not an easy climb at all. Steep terrain is one issue, stamina is another one.

One has to obey with time limit given to reach the top. Ascend and descend need some estimation hour before the sky dark, similar to Mount Nuang which required 12 hours average. I purposely bought a new 40L hiking bag to show my enthusiasm.

Bukit Gasing Forest Park (Gasing Hill)

This was an unplanned trip. Initially I was planning to bring my friends to Tabur Hill hiking, however, due to bad weather, we switched to PJ Hill, namely Gasing Hill. Although the weather was pretty same, here got shelter from heavy rain. Therefore, three of us end up hiking at Bukit Gasing (Gasing Hill).

Second Attempt to Gasing Hill

22 May 2010

This hill has become my favorite hill recently. I started to like this hill due to its uniqueness in term of located in the middle of housing area and not isolated like what other forest tends to be. Yes, I admitted this jungle still remains untouched but how long it will remain, it’s still become a big question.

My second attempt to Gasing Hill last weekend was rather fruitful and satisfied. As you know my first hike was rather simple and short route in which took only 30 minutes to complete it. I wasn’t enough but never mind, I told myself to try for second time and onwards. Yea, finally did it.

Saga Hill & Apeh Waterfall

Saga Hill is not a familiar place for hikers, at least compare to Broga. This hiking trail goes all the way from Taman Saga to Wangsa Cheras and approximate distance of 5 KM. Good for beginners and intermediate. Few names related to this hill,  Apeh Hill/ Bukit Apeh, Saga Hill/Bukit Saga and A Pak San (in mandarin).

Saga Hill-Hiking (aka Apeh San Hill)

In fact, this hill is very nearby my house and I never bother to know about it until I heard and read in somewhere blog. I started curious about what’s so special about this hill compare to other hill. It was so sudden I want to plan for this trip. I sent out invitation via FB, hoping to get someone to explore with me. Result is expected, I got a small group interested in this hill.

It is located at Taman Saga if you take the route to Saga’s peak. This housing area is considered in between Cheras and Ampang borderline. Some more, it’s so near Hulu Langat district. Well, you guess how to reach here.

Gasing Hill, The Beginning

Gasing Hill forest park (known as Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing) is one of the KL’s best nature walks. It’s not a tough hiking, perhaps available few path for you to choose from. It was once a rubber plantation left idle for half century, the course of nature has overtaken the hillsides and produces a lush secondary forest with large tropical trees.

This is my first attempt on this trail. The path is excellent for walking and exercise. Many people from come to the park to get another view of nature or just getting fit with climbs and normal walks. From the main entrance, there is a small trail leading to watch tower and wooden bridges over a small stream.

I came with DarkOne Sr who leads us to the trail. These trails were not so difficult for me and can complete in less than an hour for the simplest trail.
