Jalan-Jalan Cari Durian
A long waiting for fruit king was finally paid off with my last visit to Krau, Pahang. A very delicious and expensive Musang King was part of the menu is available ala buffet (eat all you can). A short trip to Fraser Hill was done after the fiesta for sight-seeing and lunch before we go back to KL.
Jalan-Jalan Cari Durian (Durian Hunting Day Trip)
Although durian season is over, but my last trip for durian hunting was a fruitful one. Having one or two in KL is going to hurt my pocket. Hey! This fruit how come look like luxury item by the price? It should come cheap as we’re the large producer for durian. Don’t you agree?
To counter this, I knew from a friend that we can actually opt for an orchard visit for durian, pay for a fix amount and eat all you can. We booked through a friend network and they reserved a basket for us. Normally they’ll transport it out via lorry if no reservation done. Else you can buy from road side where the stalls stand. Bargaining starts from there.
We went a bit further to the orchard because we wanted to enjoy eating durian in orchard. We paid for RM30 per pax and 6 of us were interested to join this trip.
Departs early in the morning towards Karak Highway, we drove up to Krau town. Our person-in-charge was waited us at designated location and leads us to the destination (orchard).
Voila, a fruitful of baskets ready to flag-off to lorry. We were no hurry and worry because this is not the only batch they delivered. LOLz
Arrived at eating location … king of fruits
Full loaded … durianssss
D24 … famous name in the past
Most popular & most hunted durian type … Musang King
Can’t wait for it … faster open!
A group of durian lover … oppss Khaki Group
We were not able to finish up one basket as promised. But satisfaction was there … to have MUSANG KING gao-gao (until full). Some of us tapao (take away) but don’t expect cheap, RM19 per kg (Musang King type) and RM5 per kg (D24 type). No different.
Durian is still a premium fruit for many unless we paid for cheaper alternative or end of season. Even though, many still like it and never get enough for it. The aroma and sensation in your mouth was unexplainable.
After a good appetite of this fruit king, we drove up to Fraser Hill (since we keep seeing Fraser Hill sign-board) for a light drink and lunch.
Stop at information centre … my first visit to Fraser Hill
Lunch at Puncak Inn … a nice place to enjoy our outing
Famous clock tower … the landmark of Fraser Hill
Historical written … our Khaki Group trip
A short visit to Fraser Hill has opened up my mind to come again for complete visit to its famous 7 jungle trails. Many would think that Fraser Hill was boring because it has nothing to offer other than a holiday and gathering. In fact, the nature attraction was a main reason many comes here for lake, jungle and bird-watching.
We officially sped-off from the hill down back to KL at 4pm and call it a day. Our day trip for durian hunting a.k.a Jalan-Jalan Cari Durian was leave us a good memory of get together.
