Bukit Ketumbar (Ketumbar Hill) Leisure Hike
A BIG surprise if you compare Bukit Ketumbar with similar hill in KL Cheras area. You may not expect the trek can be completed lesser than an hour. You can forget of having guide to the peak, but having an experience people that hiked before would be an ideal choice. The path is clear and directive.
29 Jan 2011 | Bukit Ketumbar Leisure Hike
Bukit Ketumbar is just a hill for local resident to have their daily morning exercise. However, with social networking ability to spread the place to no boundaries, nowadays, the place is crowded especially during weekend.
Hiking this hill is kind of leisure hike which I’d fond to it lately. It’s located not far from my house, roughly 3km. The entrance is just a 5 minutes walk from Ketumbar Height Condo.
Car park is FREE on side road but once it’s FULL, you have no choice but to park in designated parking area with fees. Stalls selling fruits and drink are available along the entrance.
Even though it’s nearby my house, I never know it was existing until I saw the photos people have completed the hike. But normally, I prefer to follow the group for first time. I ain’t a jungle explorer nor recce talented, but nature & photography enthusiastic.
My Travel Kaki was organizing this and we all gathered at a local restaurant before get departing to the destination. Even though our hike is not in the early morning, but the weather was just good that day.
Entrance … turns right and go up to start the hike
Fruit stall … but wait until I’m complete the hike first
A leisure start … photography make easier
A good way to promote hiking … spur an interest to first timer
Hill water or water pipe? … don’t think it’s good to drink
View Station … first station for city view and of course resting
Breath-taking KL folks living area … Cheras!
Trek is safe and clean … good for children as well
Bayu Curve … second station for another view
Shortly after that … the DESTINATION the PEAK
An interesting object display … just give a look
Female toilet … covered and if you see male toilet, you will say WTH!
Male toilet … KAOTIM behind the bush LOL
Some DIY stuffs … for amateur in the making
RED theme hikers of the day … catchy and fun
Met another group … youngster group
Some people may just spend an hour to rest and sleep for a while on the bench there. The place is just filled up with many facilities you would think off. Like a shelter and like a home.
After spent half an hour there, we decided to call off our leisure hike by following a straight road down (another road). We do not prefer follow back the path that we went it because it’s farther.
Only a quick 30 minutes to touch base. Toilet is located just straight from the entrance, if you really need it.
Toilet facilities … from the entrance point
Occasionally I would come back again for fun and light exercise. Training base I would have doubt because of the trek. I would suggest better long hour trek like Nuang for your mountain climb preparation.
Just give a try and you will start liking hike activity.
