Bukit Tabur is divided to many series nowadays. West, East, Extreme & Far East are those identified by many hardcore hikers as how they labeled it. Back to square one, I’m still fancying over Tabur series once a while for its divisiveness striking view.

Alternatively, Tabur East is offering a sunrise view, a view that many hikers/campers wanted to see when they wake up in the morning. With equipped a good DSLR camera, you can easily taken a striking sun light flaring your lens nicely. Believe it, any point and shoot camera can produce this angle, but of course with some editing works, the stunning light can align in nice tone.

Back from photo topic, let’s talk about hiking experience from Tabur East. This route is accessible from Taman Melawati, located at few turning within the residential area.

The exact location can be referring to this co-ordination (GPS): +3° 13′ 55.23″, +101° 45′ 0.45″ if you interested.

Saga Hill & Apeh Hill both are interesting place for hiking. The diversity of its road to the peak and waterfalls made entire journey tempting for exploration. Indeed it has much to offer from not only once but many.

20 Mar 2011 | Saga & Apeh Hill via Bukit Hatamas

Even though Saga Hill & Apeh Hill are well connected from the trail, but both starting point are about 13km distance from each other. This round, I’d myself try this new route together with other group.

There’s another route I left, Cheras Awana which not far away from Bukit Hatamas but I would like to try next round. Entrance to the trail was not well-guided and needed an experience hiker to direct the way or else end up somewhere in the jungle.

The place is accessible by car where we parked our car at some under construction road and walk along the open space under the hot sun when we came back from the journey.

Unknown by its name, this waterfall is located Ayer Itam Forest Reserve. The exact location remain unknown as it’s fall under private land maintained by UPM Forestry Department.

From entrance to the destination, we took about 30-40 minutes of walking through under construction road access to few forestry property.

Nothing fancy all the way with proper trek plus some visible signboard showing us the location. The leader lead us to the location where the greenish pool located. What an amazing spot for such wonderful waterfall.

Kellie’s Castle – A Century Old Mansion

1

Kellie’s Castle is located near Batu Gajah and about 20 minutes drive from Ipoh. A century old unfinished, ruined mansion was built by a Scottish planter called William Kellie Smith. According to differing accounts, it was either a gift for his wife or a home for his son.

12 Mar 2011 | Kellie’s Castle

Let’s have a short history about this building. The construction began in 1915 and came to an abrupt half with Kellie’s sudden death in 1926. Perak State Government has restored this magnificent structure from the encroaching foliage.

Besides being haunted, the castle is believed to have hidden rooms and secret underground tunnels towards the rubber plantation. The road that leads to Kellie’s Castle follows the contours of the land in a dizzying, maze-like fashion, adding to the mystery and romance of the place.

I’ve been waiting for so long to visit Kellie’s Castle due to its strong historical value. My recent visit to Perak for water rafting has given me a chance to stop by.

Car park is FREE. An entrance fee is RM4 for adult.
